Why Is Hip-Hop so freaking Dead?
49Hip-Hop's Dead End
Well let me tell you why hip-hop is dead. Let just say it died in 1996 and 1997 the years Makaveli and Life After Death had taken there last breath. A new era had dawned upon the hip-hop community, Bling Bling. This era was ushered in and excepted. This was the beginning of the end of real music. For a lot of hip-hop followers as myself the bling bling era just put things to far out of perspective and everything real wasn't reachable in all reality. When 2Pac was raping about "Brenda's Got a Baby" and "Pour out a Little Liquor" this was content that hip-hop could relate to. Biggie gave you "Warning" and "10 Crack Commandments", it wasn't nothing glamorous about his flow, it was more grimey if anything. But then came this million dollar talk about platinum grillz, platinum chains and Bentley's and it became the game that hip-hop fell victim to. The bling bling era started a culture that put hip-hop in the state of mind that all this glamor and glist could be obtained but with little or no penitentiary risks. The chorus goes something like; "Pinky ring worth about 50 bling bling... Every time I buy a new ride bling bling..." can you say death to hip-hop. You now have the attention of this hip-hop audience and you begin to sell it pipe dreams. So now everyone who follows this act will begin to sell there souls for a lil bling bling iced out medallion. Hip-Hop's state of mind today, is that anybody can do this and that is so not true. It is time to revitalize Hip-Hop and start to hold higher standards for artist coming into this game. People no longer want to hear about how many platinum chains your wearing but more about what cave those diamonds came from. If we are once again going to be able to relate to hip-hop well then let's make hip-hop breathe again.

Real true Hip Hop today is now like the Panther party, it's basically nonexsistent.
